G'day Levlans!
The day has finally come: it's time for another mega patch! Hold onto your brooms, because this is probably the biggest Levla patch so far. Mod Back and I have poured our souls into this one, and we really hope you enjoy it!
Today's patch is all about bringing the community, friends and family closer together on Levla. If that doesn't sound like your thing, don't worry: here at Levla we'll never force you to do anything you don't want to. All of it is 100% optional, and there's a bunch of new privacy settings to fiddle around with!
This is also part 1 of the social updates I've got planned. Everything got a bit too ambitious, so I had to move some things to a part 2. If you've seen me hint at something that isn't in here, don't worry, I'm already working on it!
On top of the social stuff, there's also a reworked Trading Post, sound effects, leaderboard changes and some spooky Halloween goodies in here!
With that said, let's get into what's new in Levla. But first, a quick note!
Pre-note
Update on the app stores!
As usual with full releases, you're going to need to update your app on either the App Store or the Play Store, depending on what platform you're on.
This patch comes with tons of Halloween content, and it's locked behind the new app version, so without updating you won't be able to take part in it!
A special thank you
This patch wouldn't have been possible without my team of testers, who have been testing and using it for the past 3 weeks while I've been working on it non-stop. Thank you so much for helping me get this ready for our growing community!
And a special shoutout to @SylverScout for helping me with the Halloween quest in today's update.
But I also want to thank all of you who are using Levla, for all the amazing feedback and ideas, and for making this community feel like home. I can't explain how excited I am about the future of Levla!
Much love! <3

Halloween is here!
Spooky season has arrived in Levla! 🎃 And it's brought our very first seasonal quest with it, plus 18 new Halloween cosmetics and 3 new pets to collect until November 2!
To celebrate, I've added a brand new Halloween theme: the whole app gets a spooky look, and there's a new app icon too! The theme is on by default for all you dark mode users. On light mode? Just tap the pumpkin at the top of your settings, next to the light/dark mode toggle, to turn it on (it's a dark theme, so it switches you to dark mode). And if it's not your thing, you can turn it off whenever!
Oh, and the first time you open Levla after updating, keep your eyes peeled on your way home. There's a little something waiting for you!
A Murder in Witsend
The yearly Harvest Fair in Witsend is tomorrow, and the whole town has been getting ready for weeks. But last night, the crows that had been watching from the rooftops all week suddenly flew off, and this morning Gilbert, Tobbekarl's gold chair, is nowhere to be found. Head over to Tobbekarl to help him get to the bottom of it (you'll need to have finished Reclaiming the Hillside first)!
Along the way you'll follow some unlikely leads, go on two new quest adventures, fight a brand new creature, and carve ten pumpkins for the fair, one for every habit you complete. Solve the case and you'll get:
- A brand new pet
- The Scarecrow Mask
- The Scarecrow's Keeper title (Also available to free users!)
- Two new backgrounds: Witchwood, plus Blood Moon for members
- The Blood Moon eye color (members)
- 3 Odd Glowing Pumpkins
You can start the quest until November 2 at 11:00 UTC. Started it before then? No rush, you can still finish it afterwards!
Odd Glowing Pumpkins
Until November 2, every habit and todo you complete has a chance of dropping an Odd Glowing Pumpkin!
Free to play users has a 10% chance and can find up to two per day, while our members has a 15% chance and can find up to 5 per day.
Open them from your bank to see what's inside:
- 17 Halloween cosmetics: straw hats, a witch outfit, Halloween capes and masks, a Happy Pumpkin Head, and a broom, lollipop and Pumpkin Bowl to hold
- A brand new pet, if you're really lucky
- Spooky treats: Green Sweets that restore stamina, and Witch's Brew, which boosts your stamina gains by 20% for 4 hours
- Coins, pumpkins (the normal kind) and more!
IRL Community Event
On top of all the spooky stuff in the app, we're also running an IRL Halloween event over on our Discord! It kicks off shortly after this patch goes live, and all the details will be posted there, so make sure to join our discord so you don't miss out!
Participating in this will unlock two exclusive cosmetics, a tombstone pet and the very cool evil pumpkin head!
New Side Menu
Before we get into all the juicy new features: Levla now has a side menu, on every main screen!
Think of it as Levla's secondary menu, for things you use often, but not often enough to take up screen space all the time. It's where you'll find all the social features like Friends and Trades, your Equipment, Spellbook and Inventory, and things like the wiki, your profile and settings. At the bottom you'll also see everything you've got running, like adventures, crafts and crops, and you can collect them right from there!
This also frees up the Adventure screen: Equipment, Spellbook and Inventory have moved into the menu, and your name is centered again. More on how we'll use the rest of that space in a later update!
There are three ways to open it, and Bob will show you the way in after updating:
- Swipe from left to right. On the home screen and inside tabs, start from the left edge, so it doesn't get in the way of swiping between days
- Long-press the center button, the one that says Tasks or World
- Tap the Menu button in the top left of the Adventure screen
Friends System
Here at Levla we take privacy very seriously, which is why most of this update is locked behind the new friends system.
It's pretty self-explanatory, but you can now add friends by searching for their username under Friends in the side menu, or straight from their profile.
Your friends list also shows what everyone is up to right now, like their current adventure, their streak and how many tasks they've completed today, so you can keep each other going!
Once you're friends with someone, a lot of new functionality unlocks between the two of you, which I'll go through in the following sections.
Note: This goes both ways, so your friends can see what you're up to and how many tasks you've completed today, and browse the tradeable items in your bank when trading with you. You can fine-tune all of this in the new Privacy settings!
Trading With Friends
First up on the friends features is trading. Also pretty self-explanatory: you can now send gifts, request gifts, trade and bargain with your friends through its own separate system. You'll find it under Trades in the side menu, or by swiping right on a friend.
This is great for when you want to skip the Trading Post fee, send a friend a gift, or just don't want to get merched on the Trading Post.
The Trading Post will of course keep its place as a key part of Levla's economy, but this is for those who'd rather stay out of it, and it makes trading between friends a lot easier, so we can avoid those 1gp Trading Post listings.
There are a few requirements though: you can trade up to 20 different items on each side of a trade, and you need to be total level 100 to give items or coins to someone else, to stop alt-abusing. Even below total level 100, you can still receive gifts!
This took a long time to build as I wanted it to be a super smooth experience, so if anything feels weird or you have ideas on how to improve it further, let me know in our Discord server!
Enjoy!
Shared Todo Lists (Members)
I've also heard that a lot of families are using Levla, or want to bring their family into the world of Levla (which btw is sooo cool!), but up until now there's been no way to share todos between users.
As of today's update, you can create a todo list and invite friends to it! Once a friend accepts your invite, its todos show up on their home screen and backlog, just like any other todos.
On your backlog, shared lists always show their unfinished todos, even if you've filtered your own todos down to, say, only Unscheduled, so nothing your friends add slips past you. Prefer it the other way? Turn off Always show shared lists in the filters.
Note: This is a members-only feature, but only the creator of the list needs to be a member to share it with their friends!
Shared Todo Features
Todos on a shared list also come with some cool unique features of their own, and everything updates live, so you can see who's working on what as it happens!
Assigning a todo to someone
When creating or editing a todo on a shared list, you can assign it to anyone on that list, and you can even assign individual steps to different people! Only the person it's assigned to can complete it, and todos assigned to someone else stay on your backlog without cluttering your home screen. You'll also see who still has steps left, right next to the todo's progress.
Need to give someone a little push? Tap Remind to send them a reminder, once every 12 hours.
Wages
You can also put a wage on a shared todo: whoever completes the todo first gets the wage as their reward!
In this first version, a wage can be one of the following:
- Coins (taken from your balance)
- One item stack (taken from your bank)
- A Promise (a custom IRL reward, e.g ”Pick a movie")
Coins and items are taken as soon as you set the wage, and you get them back if you take the wage back before anyone completes the todo. Just like with trading, coin and item wages need total level 100.
I'm super stoked for this feature and to see how you'll use it, so let me know how it feels and if you think we should add anything to it!
New Todo Lists UI
Alongside shared lists, todo lists in general got some love too!
Creating and editing a list now happens in a brand new sheet, where you can give it a name, description, icon and color, and set it as your default list.
On the backlog, you can now tap the header to open all your lists in a grid, with task counts, search and sorting, which makes swapping between lists so much faster. Any list invitations you've got waiting show up there too!
Accountability
Stakes (Solo)
First up on the accountability features list is what we call Stakes.
When creating or editing a habit or todo, you can now put a stake on it, something you risk losing if you don't follow through. There are four different types of stakes:
- Coins (from your balance)
- Any one item stack (from your bank)
- A debuff (XP Slump, Stamina Drain or Combat Rust, each lasting 24 hours)
- A custom IRL punishment of your own choosing
Stakes are exactly what they sound like:
- On a todo, you need to complete it before its deadline
- On a habit, you need to keep your streak going for 7, 14 or 30 days
Keep your word and you get your stake back. Fail, and the stake burns: coins and items are gone for good, a debuff kicks in for 24 hours, and a custom stake means it's time to pay up!
Changed your mind? You can cancel a stake within the first hour and get it all back.
Stakes can only be put on your own habits and todos, not shared ones. Free players can have 2 stakes running at the same time, and members have no limit.
As a little bonus, completing a staked habit or todo also gives you an extra 5% chance of a random event!
Rewards (Solo)
On the flip side, you can also promise yourself a reward for a habit or todo, earned on your next completion, or by keeping a habit's streak going for 7, 14 or 30 days. A habit or todo can have a stake, a reward, or both!
Rewards share a limit with wages: free players can have 2 active at the same time, and members have no limit.
Oaths (1v1)
And last but not least, Oaths, the one I'm the most excited about!
Habits are a lot easier to keep with a friend, so now you can swear an oath together. You each pick one of your own habits, and as long as you both keep them going, your streak together goes up by one every day. If either of you misses, skips or snoozes, it starts over, and you'll both know who it was!
Swearing an oath
You can swear an oath from a habit's details, from a friend's profile, or from Oaths in the side menu. Pick a friend and a habit, sign the oath, and send it their way. They have 48 hours to accept!
To accept, your friend picks one of their own habits on the same schedule, or creates a matching one right there, then signs and seals the oath. If you both check in that day, day one counts that night.
Oaths work with habits that repeat daily, on set days of the week, every few days, or a number of times a week, and both habits need the same schedule and type. Sticky habits can't be sworn, since they never break. While an oath lasts, its habit's schedule is locked, but you can still rename it or change its icon.
Keeping it
Your oath shows your streak together at the top, with a card for each of you: your habit, today's check-in and the last 7 days. Everything updates live, and you'll get a notification when your friend checks in, so you know it's your turn! Your oath's habit also shows your friend's name on your home screen.
Forgot to check in yesterday? You can still check in late until the end of today, and your streak is safe (your friend will see it was late, though). Skips and snoozes can't be made up, so they break the streak as soon as the day ends.
If your streak does break, it goes back to 0 and you'll both hear who missed, but the oath carries on and your best streak is kept. And when you reach 7, 30 and 100 days together, you'll both get to celebrate!
Limits & leaving
- One oath per habit, and one at a time with each friend
- Free players can have 1 oath going at a time (invites you've sent count too), and members have no limit
- Either of you can leave anytime, which ends the oath for both of you. Archiving, deleting or pausing the habit counts as leaving, and unfriending or blocking ends it too
- Ended oaths and your best streaks are kept in Past oaths
No coins or items change hands in an oath. Want something on the line? Put a stake on your habit too!
Note: You can turn oath notifications on or off under Oaths in your notification settings.
Privacy & Notification Settings
Privacy
With Levla getting a lot more social, there's also a new Privacy screen in your profile menu, so you're in full control of who can reach you:
- Send you friend requests: Everyone (default) or Nobody. You can still send requests yourself
- Invite you to lists: Friends (default) or Nobody. You can still invite others
- Trade with you: Friends (default) or Anyone. With Anyone, players who aren't your friends can start a trade with you from your profile
- Approve before they see your bank: anyone, even friends, has to send you a trade request first, and you need to accept it before they can browse your bank
- Private profile: hides your profile and leaderboard entries
Your blocked users can be found here too.
Notifications
The notification settings have also been reworked and grouped into clear sections: Reminders, Daily check-ins, Activities, People and From Levla, with a toggle for each of the new social notifications, like trade offers, friend requests, list invitations and todos assigned to you.
Leaderboard Changes
The leaderboards also got their first round of changes!
- Friends: switch between Everyone and Friends to see how you stack up against your friends
- Streaks: a brand new board ranking everyone by their current streak
- This week & this month: on top of All time, you can now see who's gained the most XP this week or this month (resetting every Monday and on the 1st, UTC)
- Around you: the leaderboard now opens around your own rank instead of at the top. Starting out at the bottom of a huge list can be pretty discouraging, so now you "compete" with your neighbours instead!
Trading Post Rework
As promised back in Patch 21, the Trading Post has gotten a complete refresh in this update!
Here's what's new:
- A new market home: search every item, browse by category and see what's busiest today
- Live market: new listings and offers slide in as they happen, and sold listings drop out
- Usual prices: every item now has a usual price, and a green tag marks listings and offers that are at least 10% better than usual. Best deals and Best offers show you the biggest ones
- Item pages: price history, today's price range and a quality picker, with listings and offers on their own tabs
- Buying: Buy now buys across several listings in one go, cheapest first, straight to your bank. Or make an offer, and see where it would stand against other buyers as you type
- Selling: see what your bank is worth, sell instantly to buyers who are already waiting, or list items at your own price
- My stall: all your listings and offers on one shelf, with Selling, Buying and History tabs. It tells you when you're the cheapest or have been undercut or outbid, and lets you match the best price right from there
- Collect: "Claim" is now "Collect", and a Ready to collect card shows exactly what's waiting for you
The tax is also explained properly now: it's 2% per item, rounded down, which means items under 50 coins pay no tax at all!
And on your first visit, Bob will give you a quick welcome to the new Trading Post.
Sound Effects
Remember when I said sound effects were coming? Well, Levla finally has its own sounds! They're still experimental, so they might change as we go, and let me know in Discord what you think!
Buttons, sheets, tabs, the side menu, dialogue, crafting, buying & selling and your journal all have their own sound effects now, and celebrations got some new sounds too. They play instantly and won't pause your music either!
If your phone is on mute, Levla stays muted too. You can change that and more in the new Sounds screen in your profile menu:
- Turn on Play in silent mode to hear sounds even when your phone is on mute
- Turn sounds on or off for the interface, celebrations and completions
- Switch to the Legacy style if you only want the old check sound
Notifications have their own sounds now too, a unique one for each kind of notification, like reminders, adventures, crafting and trades. These are still early versions and might change in the future, and if you'd rather keep your phone's default sound, just turn off Levla sounds in your notification settings.
Chained Casket & Essence Emporium
The Chained Casket
Wise Old Bob's Mystery Box got a makeover! It's now the Chained Casket, a gilded casket sealed with a rune, and you open it by holding it until the chains snap. Bob has new art and a few new lines to go with it, and caskets now stack in your bank too.
Its loot got a big rework as well, with bigger stacks and much better odds on the good stuff:
- More coins (1,000–3,000, up from 500–2,000), and bigger stacks of fish, ores, logs, herbs and seeds
- Gems are a lot more common, and can come in twos and threes
- Malmite gear drops way more often: the Malmite Helm and Scimitar went from 0.1% to 1.5% each
- Ring Imbue Scrolls are twice as common
- 5 brand new cosmetics you can only get from the casket: the Blue, Purple and Tan Cavalier Hats, and the Red and White and Black and Red Slit Capes
- And yes, the Levla Membership Bond is still in there!
Fjonkan's Essence Emporium
Fjonkan has restocked too, with 8 new cosmetics in the Essence Emporium:
- Cavalier Hats in Black, Brown, Grey, Red and White, for 1,500 essence each
- Slit Capes in Blue and White, Green and White, and Purple and White, for 2,000 essence each
That makes 8 Cavalier Hats and 5 Slit Capes to collect between the shop and the casket, and they're all tradeable!
