Patch 17.1 - Launch Patch

-

This post was written before Levla launched, so some details, like prices and progression, have changed since. For current information, see About Levla.

Table of contents

The day has finally arrived. As you're reading these patch notes, Levla has officially been submitted for review by the Apple and Google review teams ahead of our official launch.

Wow, what a journey it's been so far. And we've only just begun, the real work starts now.

I want to begin by saying thank you to every single one of you who was part of this 3 month long playtest, and to all you Patreon supporters. This has been by far the most fun I've ever had building a project, and I've built 20+ different apps and products throughout my career, so thank you so so so much <3

But like I said, the real work starts now, and I am so excited to finally have reached this stage of Levla. So let's get into the patch, what's remaining, what's on the roadmap and some info leading into the launch.

NOTE: There will be an official launch announcement coming when everything is 100% ready to go.

Server Wipe: Fri, 26th June

This Friday, I am wiping all characters and progression. I understand that not everyone will agree with this and we might even lose a few users, but it has been talked about since before the playtest. I've mentioned why in previous patch notes and in our Discord community, so I won't talk anymore about it!

But expect your characters to be wiped around this upcoming Friday.

Levla Launch Goal: Mon, 29th June

The goal is also that we officially launch the following Monday, as long as all systems seem ready and fine and no "new character" bugs are discovered until then. I am totally fine with doing an official launch anytime next week, but the goal is Monday!

Follow-Up Patch 17.2

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to squeeze in everything I wanted into this patch, and that is because it became way too big now with hundreds of changes. I also needed to have a patch ready for the review teams.

So, before launch, there will be yet another patch, which will include some of the missing pieces and any eventual bug fixes.

The main thing that will be included in Patch 17.2 is Guild Content!

Patch 17.1

Alright, let's get into today's patch. It is as usual very big (shocker).

Levla Legends

Throughout the playtest, there has been a few select users that have honestly shaped Levla into what it is today. Without their constant feedback, bug reports and support, Levla would not be the same.

So, to honor these users, there is now a Levla Legends tab that is accessible from the Settings Screen.

The Levla Legends screen will keep being updated as more honorable users enter the community and leave their own marks on the app!

Thank you for being here this whole time and for your continued support, it means the world to me <3

Patreon Rewards

In this patch, our first batch of Patreon rewards are also being rolled out to everyone I know of that has supported us on Patreon or who has pinged me in Discord DMs.

If you're missing your rewards, please let me know through Discord DMs:

  • Character Titles: The Generous & Patron (Patron Only!)
  • Character Name Colors: 10 to choose from (Patron Only!)
  • Character Icon: Patreon Supporter
  • Patreon Only Skin Tones: Crimson Red (Patron Only!)
  • Members Skin Tones: Onyx, Ivory, Honey, Moss, Azure, Orchid, Jade

Trading Post QOL

I am so happy to see that the Trading Post is receiving a lot of usage and love. It was honestly one of my favorite features to build, and seeing it this active and such a big part of Levla already in this early first version is super exciting to me!

With that said, I saw a lot of feedback regarding the Trading Post, so I decided to do a Trading Post specific QOL run through. There is still more work to do, but the goal here was to make it more pleasant to use!

  • OPTIMIZATION: The Trading Post is now hosted on its own "search server" to help with speed and filtering
  • CHANGE: Your own listings are now hidden by default from the buy/sell tab, as they are already visible from my listings.
  • NEW: You can now edit your pricing on buy/sell listings
  • NEW: Pressing "View Listing" will now show a third tab "Other Listings" for seeing other listings of the same item, sorted by lowest price first.
  • NEW: You will now get a popup in-app if one of your listings got sold/bought.
  • NEW: The Trading Post is now more "realtime", new listings and changes to listings should reflect automatically in the app when browsing
  • NEW: Filters and Sorting has been added

QOL: New Users

The most time-consuming changes this patch was to improve the new user experience. The goal is to make things feel more polished and streamlined, so users quickly get the idea of what Levla is all about.

  • UI: Landing/Welcome Screen redesigned
  • UI & UX: Onboarding rebuilt from scratch with Hans guiding them through it.
  • UI & UX: Membership related gates/blockers/popups updated
  • SYSTEM: Paywall finalized and enabled
  • NEW: A new "Tutorial Island" activity has been added which guides new users to fully unlocking Levla with some nice rewards when completed
  • NEW: We now suggest users to join the Discord in the onboarding
  • NEW: #new-arrivals channel added to Discord which will show the new heroes joining Levla!

QOL & New Stuff: Levla

This patch comes with a ton of quality of life changes as well, and most of these actually came from the #feedback channel in our Discord server, so thank you so much for taking the time to post your suggestions there!

New Stuff

  • NEW: You can now hide yourself from the leaderboard in your profile settings
  • NEW: You can now hide the leaderboard UI from the app settings.
  • NEW: Clicking trading related notifications will now properly open the trading screen when clicked.
  • NEW: Clicking a habit or todo reminder notification now opens the todo/habit details popup
  • NEW (iOS): You can now longpress on habit/todo reminders to complete it from the notification.
  • NEW: Added missing MLM Pride Flag
  • NEW: When an item with durability/usage breaks down, a popup will now be shown to alert you of this.
  • NEW: When an item with durability/usage breaks down, its view model is no longer rendered on your character model.
  • NEW: When sorting inventory by alphabetical, type or rarity, it now also sorts by quality.
  • NEW: Assigning a skill to a habit or todo now gives a 20% XP bonus multiplier compared to when going straight to the XP Lamp.
  • NEW: The Adventure Log now supports Quest Completions, Bounty Completions, Random Events and more.
  • NEW: New Item Type "Giftbox" which allows me to give a set of items in a box to individual users
  • NEW: In the combat forecast on Dungeons and Monster slaying, you can now "preview" the fight with different foods and amounts to see if upgrading food would help.
  • NEW: You can now skip/snooze recurring todos. Snooze sets the next occurrence while skip skips it to its next occurrence.
  • NEW: You can now Block & Report users from their profiles, as per Apple Guidelines when an app has UGC (bios in our case).

UX, UI and System Changes

  • UX: Pressing away random events now asks you to confirm to close it
  • UX: The Error Connecting To Server screen has been split into two different screens now for clarity on whether it's an actual network or app issue
  • UX: Removed the hiding of tab navigation on Android when dragging on the homescreen, which was causing a lot of issues.
  • UX: Added light haptics when collapsing groupings on the homescreen
  • UX: Farming is now also locked until completing the "Reclaiming the Hillside" quest
  • UI: Small visual change on the active adventure card to fit our app's color palette more and not stand out too much
  • UI: Updated the locked interface when clicking bounty + farming patches when it's locked
  • UX: Skipping habits now defaults to the next occurrence
  • SYSTEM: Cleaned up a bunch of old junk code in the app

Rebalancing

  • CHANGE: The hidden effort cap anti-cheat measure has been increased, so there is less of a chance to hit the "lower reward" thresholds
  • CHANGE: Sell prices to vendors
  • CHANGE: Coin drops from all NPCs to lower the coins flowing into the game, cut by 80% overall
  • CHANGE: Tuned Simon's drop table to feel more rewarding, more resources, more equipment and sometimes refunds of the frostward ingredients

Exploration Adventures

Exploration adventures has temporarily been removed as they will be reintroduced post-launch with a new take on the concept, which has been discussed in our Discord server.

Expected to be re-implemented shortly after launch.

Todo Reodering

I rewrote how the todo reordering system works. The previous system had a lot of issues because it was fighting a lot of different internal views, e.g, recurring todos, lists and so forth, and sorting them all together was a mess in general.

Now, the order of todos is per day and does not carry over to future days, which should fix a lot of confusion.

In short, if you want to prepare tomorrow's todos and order them, you'll have to do it by viewing "tomorrow" on the home screen.

Bug Fixes

  • FIX: Fixed some issues with harvesting farming allotments
  • FIX: Fixed an issue where some items were not sellable to shops
  • FIX: Fixed an issue where mock data was still in the quick actions sheet
  • FIX: Fixed an issue with registrations in the onboarding
  • FIX: We now clear live activity notifications on Android when the adventure/focus is finished and the API sends a new notification regarding it being finished.
  • FIX: Cleaned up our notification channel usage for Android.
  • FIX: Fixed many Android styling issues
  • FIX: Fixed a client side issue where there was still a buy limit of 100 when purchasing items from vendors

  • FIX: Fixed an issue where the "Focus Adventure Notification" for Android would go below 0 seconds.
  • FIX: Fixed an issue where the app would crash when searching the NPC database
  • FIX: Fixed an issue where crafted items would always have crafted by metadata, causing stackable items to split.
  • FIX: Fixed an issue with the active adventure card on the worldscreen where it would not progress % wise. Also fixed an issue where it would flash "timer complete" instead of directly going to "ready to claim".
  • FIX: Fixed yet another issue with Brother Omar dialogues
  • FIX: Fixed an issue where when burning all food in a crafting session it would say "Crafting Failed: Materials not used!" instead of saying it was burned.

  • FIX: Fixed an issue where snoozed/skipped habits could show up on the daily check in popup.
  • FIX: Fixed a lot of timezone issues with skipping and snoozing habits, specifically helpful with offline use in the US.
  • FIX: Rewrote how notifications for daily/weekly habits/todos are scheduled, which should help with notifications being sent even when snoozed/skipped.
  • FIX: Fixed an issue with the Trading Post where it would group items with different "metadata" under the same slot, which would cause errors when trying to list the items under one listing because they are not identical
  • FIX: Fixed a weird visual bug with group headers on iOS when creating habits/todos when scrolled to the bottom
  • FIX: Fixed an issue where the CTA for the Level Up Sheet and the Select Quantity Sheet when farming would render under the Android nav bar.
  • FIX: Fixed an issue where the "Try Again" button on the error connecting screen wouldn't do anything

  • FIX: Fixed some issues with the overlays and their background opacity failing to animate (hopefully)
  • FIX: Fixed an issue with item stacking where if an item was reserved and you also got it as loot, it would split into two stacks.

Thank you once again for being part of this playtest <3
