Hey there Levlans!
I got back yesterday from my short little break which was amazing, but I am so excited to be back working on Levla again, it truly is my favorite thing to do in the world right now.
So it's time for another patch, and unfortunately it is not the content patch yet. There were a few things I needed to get out of the way first before I could fully dive into the new content.
While I was gone we had a surge of new users (we're currently averaging 700+ daily active users!!!) and with that came a lot of bug reports, which is what I'm mainly targeting in this patch, along with some QOL updates I collected from the Discord server.
Let's get into it!
Upcoming Community Event
Before we jump into the changelog, I also want to announce that we're planning an optional community event in our Discord server once we hit 1,000 users, and it's coming with some unique cosmetics and rewards.
Super excited about that, and I hope I see you there!
QOL & New Things
Adventure Queueing
An annoying issue that has existed in Levla since the playtest is the scenario where your character is on an adventure and you have full stamina. What are you supposed to do then?
This has led to a bad UX pattern where some of you skip or delay completing habits and todos just to make sure you don't lose the stamina you'd be rewarded.
It's a problem that needs to be handled carefully, and the first line of defence rolled out in today's patch: you can now queue adventures, which will automatically start once your current one completes.
Free users can queue one adventure in advance (1 active + 1 queued), while members can queue up to 5.
This might see a rebalance soon, but I think it's a fair starting point. It should also help you spend less time on Levla's game side, since you can now queue a lot of adventures in advance.
Let me know in Discord what you think and how it feels to use!
Bank Placeholders
A new bank setting has been added, which you can enable from your bank settings, called Bank Placeholders. What it does is keep a "ghost slot" of an item once it leaves your bank.
Great for bank sorting and management, and for making sure things always end up in their intended slots and tabs.
Thank you for the suggestion!
New Reward Overlays
In this patch I also wanted to implement some new features that were suggested in Discord, specifically popups that show when you've advanced a tier in a guild or unlocked something new from leveling up a skill.
As I started designing and implementing these, I realized there were a lot of inconsistencies in our UI when it comes to reward overlays, so in the same sweep I redesigned and reimplemented all of them.
They're now queued as well, so instead of a bunch of them popping up one after another, they're all connected in one sweep, which in my opinion looks great. You can of course skip them too.
Some of them come with prettier redesigns and even confetti. If that's not your thing, you can disable it in the settings, and you can also disable the level up and guild tier advancement popups individually.
Hope you like them as much as I do, and if not, let me know so I can revisit it in an upcoming patch!
New Effort Level: Ask me Later
In this patch you can also toggle a new option when setting the effort of a habit or todo, which will allow you to set the effort it took to complete on completion rather than in advance, this is especially nice on those tasks that might be more difficult on some days compared to others!
Other Changes
