Attack determines how hard you hit and how often you land your blows. Higher levels increase your melee damage and improve your accuracy against enemies.
Your hit chance isn't fixed. It's rolled against the enemy's defence, so tougher monsters are harder to hit. Leveling Attack helps you keep up.
Higher Attack also unlocks stronger weapons and equipment, letting you take on challenges that would otherwise be out of reach.
